The invoice and the receipt may be similar
Both the invoice and the receipt shows the name and contact details of the seller and the buyer, the units bought or received, the amount of the sale, sales tax and other taxes like VAT and discounts applied to the sale. They can be used for monitoring the inventory of goods in the company warehouses and are used by the purchasing and warehousing department for scheduling the purchase of raw materials or finished goods.
The invoice and the receipts are used by the accounting department for recording sales, and while the receipts are recorded as paid goods, the invoices are entered into the books as accounts receivable.
